Thanks for the delicious and very well done Thomas cake, Grandma Metz!
Last Saturday, we did have his Thomas birthday party with several friends and family members in attendance. He had a great time sharing his toys with his friends. Admittedly, we were very nervous about how he would react to others playing with his train table, but he was very welcoming. He loves friends and was extremely disappointed when they all left. It was a great party, but the aftermath was not so wonderful. A catchy little bug from one attendee spread to at least one member of every family in attendance. Adam was sick Sunday night and all day Monday (the game didn't make him feel any better), and Clark woke up Wednesday morning around 6:00 a.m. with it. We're all healthy now, though, and fortunately Clementine & I have been spared.
We had unusually warm weather (68 degrees!) on Monday, Clark's actual birthday, so of course we celebrated at his favorite spot in Columbus - the zoo. Clark was more interested in the train tracks than most of the animals. The train ride is closed for the winter, but we can't wait to share that experience with Clark in the spring!
Speaking of train rides, Clark is very excited about the Metzes upcoming vacation to Miami. Yes, we're flying, but while there we are intending to visit the Gold Coast Railroad Museum(http://goldcoast-railroad.org/). We showed the website to Clark, and he is so anxious to ride the "big" train there. We are very excited about our upcoming visit with the Bergmans (can't wait to see that pregnant belly!) and a couple of days in Key West - hence the new blog template.
Clark had to settle for the carousel since the train was closed. Clark told me that now that he is three years old he is a big boy, but he's still little sometimes. He decided that he must be a big little boy. Even big little boys get exhausted at the zoo. On the way to the car he told me that his legs were broken and tired. In the car he drifted off to sleep listening to the sounds of the Ohio State Marching Band. He informed Abbey that he was going to be in that band when he gets bigger and that he would play the tuba. After a conversation with Dad he is now playing football for OSU as well as being in their band - fortunately these decisions are all for when he get bigger and he's just a big little boy right now.
